Soft and Moist Matcha Steamed Cakes 蒸しパン



Fail-proof recipe!! (And it's butter-free!!)
Makes 4 cakes
The color of the result really depends on the quality of matcha you are using so make sure to get good quality ones. These are baking quality matcha so it's not quite green enough... ^^"

INGREDIENTS:

75g cake flour
2 tbsp sugar
4 tbsp milk
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tsp baking powder
1 large egg
1 tsp of matcha or cocoa powder etc.
toppings optional

  1. Combine flour, baking powder, matcha powder and mix well.
  2. Scramble the egg, add milk, sugar and vegetable oil.
  3. Combine the wet and dry ingredients together.
  4. Pour into molds and steam for around 12 minutes. 
Tips:
  • For a gluten-free option, use rice flour instead of cake flour.
  • Instead of milk, yogurt makes a great replacement too.
  • For a less sweet option, use honey instead of granulated sugar.
