Shokugeki no Soma Recipe
The most signature dish from the anime!!!
It smells absolutely mouth-watering... Plus it's a lot easier to make than it looks!!! ^^v
INGREDIENTS:
Pork Roast:
2 medium sized potato
1/2 small onion
6 shiitake mushrooms
1-2 tbsp of starch
1-2 packs of bacon
salt & pepper to taste
string for holding everything in place
Wine Sauce:
1 tbsp butter
1 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp mirin
100 ml red wine
- Cut the potato into quarters and steam until soft.
- Dice the mushrooms finely.
- Melt butter in a frying pan and stir fry the onion and mushrooms together.
- Cook until the onion turns translucent and add salt & pepper to taste.
- Once cooked, the potato peel easily comes off and mash up the potatoes.
- Mix the onion and mushroom into the mashed potato and add salt, pepper and starch.
- Divide the potato dough in half and form it into a long cylinder shape.
- Place the bacon strips vertically and horizontally overlapping each other and wrap the potato dough in the center.
- Sprinkle on some rosemary and bake @ 190C for around 30 minutes.
- For the sauce, boil the red wine and mirin to remove the alcohol in them, turn the heat down to low and add the soy sauce and butter.
Tips:
- Use some starch in the potato to hold it's shape together when cutting!!
