The bento is complete!!! FINALLY!!!!!!
I absolutely love the cod after it's boiled~ Highly recommended!!! Just pair it with your favorite tartar sauce and enjoy~~~ =9
This was the single most difficult part of the bento... It took me 4 tries to get the shape and texture just right. It would help a lot to have a precise scale, which I don't have...
Taste wise it's wonderful!! But the texture is something else... =S
Ratio I was instructed to use but it really varies depending on the juice:
Sodium Alginate (1.5g to 250ml of juice)
Calcium Chloride (6g to 1L of water)
BONITO FILLING: (from the soup)
Bonito Flakes 20g
Water 1 tbsp
Soy sauce 1 tbsp or more to taste
Sugar, Mirin, Sake 1 tsp
NORI RICE:
Water 2 cups
Nori sheet 2 pieces
Soy sauce 1 tbsp or more to taste
Sugar, Mirin to taste
Sodium Alginate
Calcium Chloride
Rice
Kudzu Sauce
Dashi 200ml
Soy sauce 1 tsp
Sake 1 tsp
Salt to taste
Arrowroot starch 1 tbsp dissolved in 1 tbsp of water
(I actually added a bit of chicken stock in there too but it's up to you~)
Part 1 of the super tedious nori bento from second season...
This was pretty easy to make and so tasty!! It truly does taste so much better with freshly made dashi stock~ =9 Wish I could try the dried tuna broth... but it's kind of hard to find... =S
DASHI INGREDIENTS:
4 cups water
15g kombu
20g dried bonito flakes or tuna flakes if available
SOUP INGREDIENTS:
2 cups dashi
1-1/2 tbsp white miso
2 strips of bacon
150g onion sliced
Chopped green onion
Easy and yummy recipe that you can make at home!!
I find it's quite similar to the store bought ones, except not as perfect looking of course... Same texture and taste except not as sweet. I find the original filling to be way to sweet for me... =__="
Filling Recipe:
1 medium banana
2 tbsp sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup milk
1 tbsp starch
Few drops vanilla extract
Cake Recipe:
4 egg whites (one from the filling)
3 egg yolks
2 tbsp vegetable oil
40ml milk
1/4 cup sugar
1/2 cup cake flour
pinch of salt
My poodle went for the bald look!!! Now she looks like a skinny chihuahua with big flappy ears~ XP
Not to worry, she is perfectly happy with herself. Me on the other hand can't wait for her soft fur to grow back!!! \(>o<)/
